Lichen Planopilaris ~ Living with cicatricial alopecia

Rebecca is a third generation nurse, who works in mental health nursing with young people, offering trauma therapy. She also has an interest in crime and forensics.

Two years ago her hairdresser noticed a couple of small bald spots, She recommended a hair loss shampoo which triggered a huge allergic reaction, resulting in painful, rapid hair loss and infected hair follicles. This led to boils and spots on the scalp which can flare up and be very painful at times.

She has been diagnosed with Lichen Planopilaris, a condition which has left her scalp with areas of scarring and permanent hair loss.

We talk about different treatments, if they have shown results, and any side effects, and Rebecca shares her story as she wants people to know that there are positive sides to alopecia too.
She has made connections with others through her instagram and youtube accounts, as well as alopecia support groups, and now hopes to work with young people affected by hair loss.
