Making better product choices & understanding your hair & scalp needs

Kate Holohan W/ Kameese Davis Season 9 Episode 2

Making better product choices & understanding your hair & scalp needs

Kameese Davis, a mother of two from Birmingham, is a self-proclaimed entrepreneur, visionary and information geek.

She has created her own vegan haircare brand, Nylah's, after she struggled to find products for her daughter's needs when she was only 4 years old and suffered from seborrheic dermatitis. There was nothing natural that she could use for her scalp condition and hair type.

In the end she resorted to sourcing products from America, which was costly and time consuming, making it unreliable long term.

She shares her journey, along with her own experience of hair loss, which added to the struggles of starting her own business.
We discuss how some product brands are only concerned with the bottom line, even using waste products at ingredients to maximise profit, regardless of the impact on the end user.

She also talks about ingredient consciousness, and how many products ,marketed to black women are dangerously high in chemicals or toxic.

She has created a product line that celebrates her daughter's identity and her natural beauty.
