The challenges of wearing wigs when you have sensory issues
The challenges of wearing wigs when you have sensory issues
Meg has autism & ADHD. She is a hairstylist and makes wigs in all colours.
She used to have long hair, but after shaving it off in 2018 to support a friend who was having chemotherapy treatment, she found she loved short!
It made her realise that having long hair had been very uncomfortable for her, and triggered her sensory issues. She loved the freedom of having short hair but being able to wear wigs and still enjoy long hair.
Meg creates amazing rainbow wigs, but also has an extensive knowledge of what makes a wig more comfortable for someone who may be on the spectrum and have sensory issues. She has done a lot of research & trial & error into what works and what doesn't.
We discuss the density, fittings, materials, including where the hair is sourced from, and how it is made.
Meg has a mission to make wig making more popular and normalised, as well as making the hair space more welcoming for neurodivergent stylists & clients.
